Organization and Process
Document Management
Having poured through theforum archives, I constantly come across links to information stored on long-gone m.e.o. sites. Old survey results, old IA documents, stats, etc. If we'd had a central storing place, those could have been saved.
It took some effort also, to get ahold of our logo files. Tara had a reconstructed version, Martin had a version, then I found a bunch of them archived on aardvark's personal site.
It's too bad that we don't have the ability to compare data we collect today with data collected in the past. But it would be nice if we could find a way to archive important org-related documents long term.
User Info
Countries Online
Instead of the dreadfully dull '3 users, 4 guests online' type block, it'd be really cool to have a list of the countries that online users are from. So it'd be
Users online from [.uk] [.kw] [.ca] [.us]' (etc)
where [.foo] are eg flags
Achieved using custom user fields, so authoritative user supplied data, rather than inferred from IP addresses.
Workflow
Scheduled publication/expiry
Separate publish and create dates, and only make stuff live on publish date. Also add a publish until date, so can auto-expire old stuff (eg jobs)
